On Wednesday, August 23, a section of Ridgewood Street will be closed to traffic for the replacement of a drainage culvert. The metal culvert crossing under Ridgewood Street near the intersection with Elmdale Road has deteriorated. The contractor working for the City of Paducah, Jim Smith Contracting, will replace the 24-inch culvert with a concrete culvert and headwalls.
To complete the work, crews will close Ridgewood Street near the intersection with a detour on Ridgewood directing traffic to Bleich Road. Elmdale will remain open to traffic. The work to replace the culvert is expected to be completed in one day. Paving of the disturbed section of roadway will be in October.
Please use caution, watch for the work crews, and respect the traffic control devices.
The City of Paducah maintains more than 220 miles of streets.
